The site had an existing cabin on the site with a residential permission. This is a replacement dwelling in the South Hams AONB.
A simple, ‘cabin in the woods’ to use as a writing retreat. Set in ex-pasture land, and surrounded by woodland, the use of natural materials and simple detailing help the dwelling to blend into its surroundings.
The external landscaping is intentionally uncomplicated in order to soften the threshold between inside and out. The client wanted to sit in the window seat at the rear and feel like they were ‘in the landscape’.
