Rocky Hill Extension

This project was undertaken during my time at Clifton Emery Design Ltd. My role was as the lead Architect during the design and construction phase.

A contemporary extension to a 1930’s semi-detached house. A leafy site with panoramic views over Dartmoor and the wider world heritage site.

The project brief was to create a light and open, multi functional space, that framed the views and provided lots of natural daylight.

It is not a big site, so one of the key challenges was to design the extension to sit comfortably within the project site without dominating the existing building and space around it. The glass to glass corners on the key elevations worked really well as a tool to reduce the mass of the building from the outside and well as providing uninterrupted views out.
